BOFFO’S BACK! Come see The Lake and Stars installation!

NEW YORK – It was touch and go there for a while.

As those of you who follow fashion and design will remember, this year’s first couple of BOFFO installations were so over-the-top (Nicola Formichetti, Irene Neuwirth) that there’s been some concern about whether or not the last two labels in the series would be able to be produced.

But BOFFO’s back.

Right on schedule.

The Supima-sponsored collaboration between New York-based lingerie line The Lake & Stars and New York-based design studio SOFTlab opened yesterday with an installation that Racked.com referred to as “a kaleidoscope of lingerie.”

The space itself, however, is mostly black and white.

Furry black on the outside.

Sleek white on the inside.

Playing up the naughty connotations even further (“lake and stars” was apparently a Victorian euphemism for a lady’s skill in the bedroom), shoppers can peek into the space through tiny viewfinders set in a furry wall and get a gander at pieces from the Fall/Winter Lake & Stars collection by Nikki Dekker and Maayan Zilberman.

Then enter at their discretion.

But don’t take our word for it.

Get down to 57 Walker Street in Tribeca and see for yourself. The Lake & Stars pop-up store will stay open through November 23; noon to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

Meanwhile, if you’d like to support BOFFO yourself, check out the BOFFO contributions page on Kickstarter.com.
