NEW YORK -- If you’re still on the fence about attending the forthcoming edition of Texworld USA—scheduled for Monday, January 16 through Wednesday, January 18—a look at its list of free seminars may have you heading to the Javits Center. Among the standouts: “Made in America,” a seminar scheduled for 4 p.m. on opening day.
Co-sponsored by longtime Supima licensees Buhler Quality Yarns and Fessler USA and moderated by Emily Walzer, the editor of Textile Insight, the seminar presents a panel of industry leaders—David Sasso of Buhler, David Roshan of Laguna Fabrics, Brian Meck of Fessler—explaining the advantages of local supply chains. Namely: quicker turnaround times, less travel, better communication, and stellar customer service.
And there’s plenty more where that came from.
Also on opening day: a “Dimensions in Denim” seminar focusing on trends in fiber, finish, and fabric; Laurie Pressman presenting Pantone’s take on new end uses of color; and a Lenzing-sponsored seminar on innovation and sustainability.
Tuesday’s seminars include: an “Acting” seminar led by a team from Texworld Paris, which looks at Spring/Summer 2013 trends with a special emphasis on denim; a session on the synergies between fashion and technology; a look at the West Coast perspective on color and lifestyle trends; and a session on sourcing.
Finally, the show winds up on Wednesday with “The Top Ten Things You Need to Know to Thrive in Today’s U.S. Apparel Retail Market”; a session giving and tricks on sustainable sourcing; and an updated version of Mercedes Gonzalez’s “Starting a Fashion Line on a Shoestring.”
Just remember: All seminars are on a first-come, first-served basis and, although the show and its presentations are free, you’ll need your business card and identification to get into the show.
